Salzburg - AUSTRIA! Part 2
I had to create a second part for my Salzburg blog because there were too many amazing experiences to include in the previous one.
One of the exceptional highlights was the Sound of Music tour which was a big bucket list tick for Lynette. Below are the photos depicting the different movie scenes we explored during the tour.
1. Mirabell Gardens and Pegasus Fountain:
The tour begins and ends here at the Mirabell Palace. The beautiful gardens of the palace were prominently featured in the song "Do-Re-Mi". The fountain was where Maria and the children danced in the movie. As we were here in winter, the gardens were dormant but still beautiful.
2. Leopoldskron Palace:
We stopped at the lake made famous in the boating scene. You could also see the Captain's backyard across the lake. This was a spectacular scene for photos being such a clear wintry day with the surrounding snow capped mountains.
3. Hellbrunn Palace, the Gazebo:
We visited the gardens of Hellbrunn Palace and to see the gazebo, rebuilt here especially for the fans of the movie.
4. Salzburg Lake District:
The coach trip around here was breathtaking, so pretty with all the snow. We got to enjoy the scenery of the Lake District shown in the beginning of the movie and in the panorama shots filmed around Lake Fuschl and Lake Wolfgang. Several scenes were filmed on these stunning mountains.
5. Mondsee:
This was our last destination before our coach journey back to Salzburg. We visited the village with the Mondsee Cathedral, used as the location of the wedding scene of the movie. This was such a quaint little Austrian village in the Lake District.
The tour was such a fun filled four hours, and naturally, there were plenty of singalongs along the way which Lynette joined in whole heartedly. There were lots of happy tear moments for her.
I've added some photos of the neighborhood where we stayed in a gorgeous cosy Airbnb. Once more, the scenery was breathtaking! The locals opted for a modest approach to Christmas lights on their houses, which I appreciated. Observing the diverse styles of European homes was a particular delight for me. Oh and there was a very friendly cat waiting on the bridge for me.
Our next stop for Karp's On Tour is Vienna.
